ABOUT THE RACE
HURDLING ORIGINATED IN ENGLAND IN THE EARLY 19TH CENTURY, THE RUNNERS RACE OVER A SERIES OF OBSTACLES CALLED HURDLES, WHICH ARE SET A FIXED DISTANCE APART.
RUNNERS MUST REMAIN IN ASSIGNED LANES THROUGHOUT A RACE, AND, ALTHOUGH THEY MAY KNOCK HURDLES DOWN WHILE RUNNING OVER THEM, A RUNNER WHO TRAILS A FOOT OR LEG ALONGSIDE A HURDLE OR KNOCKS IT DOWN WITH A HAND IS DISQUALIFIED. THE FIRST HURDLER TO COMPLETE THE COURSE IS THE WINNER.

BECOME A FUTURE FIREBIRD
The Future Firebirds is a Learn-To-Play / Skill Development program designed to introduce new players to hockey and also enhance the skills of players wanting to gain more experience / knowledge of the game. Skills taught are basic power skating, stickhandling, puck movement, passing, shooting, working the triangle, offensive and defensive strategies, goaltending, plus many fun games designed to self teach. Ages are 5 to 12, but all are welcome. Also included is an opportunity for new / future coaches to take part and learn. Ice times are Saturdays. The program is led by Mick Carroll, a USA Hockey Master (Level 5) Coach..

Learn to skate
Learn to Skate USA program follows the curriculum guidelines established by U.S. Figure Skating. The Learn to Skate USA program was created to be the best beginning ice-skating program in the world. Whether a skater hopes to achieve Olympic dreams or enjoy the recreational benefits of ice skating, we have a class for them.

Competitive Edge Figure Skating Club
Competitive Edge Figure Skating Club offers private, semi-private, and group figure skating lessons to skaters of all ages and abilities. We partner closely with The Learn to Skate program. We offer monthly activities both on and off ice as well as service opportunities. Our programs are designed to appeal to skaters of all ages disciplines and skill levels.
The Iceland Compeietive Edge Figure Skating Club hosts the annual Michigan Compete USA Spring Fling Competition in early May.
